Marlon De La Torre, MA, MEd., Ph.D.

I currently serve as the Senior Director for the Department of Evangelization for the Catholic Diocese of Columbus. I also serve as Chief Catechetical Consultant for Adventure Catechism Media, Inc., and as a professor and national speaker in evangelization, catechesis/catechetics, Catholic education, Catholic theology, Church doctrine and catechetical formation for religious educators in parish, school, and adult settings.    

Professional Catechetical Background 

My professional catechetical background spans over twenty-nine years, having served as a Parish Director of Religious Education for the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown, Diocesan Director of Religious Education and Apologetics for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic High School Principal and Chair of Catechesis for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis, and Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and Executive Coordinator for the Pastoral Provision in conjunction with the Holy See and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Diocesan Department Director for Evangelization and Catechesis for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth and Diocesan Chair in collaboration with the USCCB for the National Catholic Hispanic V Encuentro, and Executive Director for Evangelization and Missionary Discipleship for the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Professional Teaching Background

I currently serve as an Adjunct Professor of Catechetics for Catholic Distance University and the Catholic Diocese of Columbus and as a professor of Catechetics for the Diocese of Fort Worth Permanent Diaconate Formation Program; I currently serve as an adjunct Professor/Presenter for Franciscan Universities Catechetical Institute-St. John Bosco Catechetical Conference and Adventure Catechism Media Inc, through Catholic Brain Inc.

I served as an adjunct professor of Catechetics for Holy Trinity Seminary in the Diocese of Dallas between 2011-2013. 

Published works include my first book entitled: Screwtape Teaches the Faith, a work paralleling C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters with the Catechism of the Catholic Church published by Saint Benedict Press (2011), Second edition via Our Sunday Visitor coming this year (2023)  and Contributor to: Man Up: How To Become A New Catholic Renaissance Man published by Bezalel Books (2014).

Education: I attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville, earning undergraduate degrees in Theology and Mental Health and Human Services and a Master's Degree in Theology with a Concentration in Catechetics. I attended the University of Saint Mary and earned a Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Curriculum and completed my Ph.D. in Catechetics, Catholic Education, and Doctrine through the University of Notre Dame-Australia. 

Television and radio credits include: EWTN Live with Fr. Mitch Pacwa discussing his book Screwtape Teaches the Faith, Fe Y Vida-EWTN in Spanish with Pepe Alonso and frequent EWTN Radio guest appearances on the Sonrise Morning Show with Annie Mitchel and Matt Swaim, Al Kresta Live with Al Kresta, Catholic Connection with Teresa Tomeo, Relevant Radio, and the Guadalupe Radio Network.

My most important ministry is my family! I’ve been joyously married to my wife, Amy, for almost twenty-six years. I am blessed with four wonderful children, Miguel, Gabriella, Maria and Gianna and over eleven little ones in Heaven.
